Oarsome Challenge

WHAT IS OARSOME CHALLENGE?

The OARSOME Challenges are a series of rowing events held on the River Thames to helps raise vital funds for our charitable work.

We are a charity who, through the medium of sailing, rowing and waterborne activities, provide support and pathways to employment for young, disadvantaged youth and disabled adults. These activities help improve individuals develop new skills, build confidence, and make a positive impact on their lives.

One of our main sources of income is to enable groups of colleagues or friends to row in one of our six seat traditional rowing boats (called a Thames Waterman Cutter) and in doing so, raise funds for us.

We offer a choice of three challenges

  • The Meridian Pull – which is from Chelsea to Ahoy, an eight-mile row that includes going under Tower Bridge
  • The Barrier Challenge – over seven miles from Woolwich to Ahoy, going through the Thames Barrier and past Cutty Sark
  • The Ahoy Challenge – starting and finishing from Ahoy, most of the six-mile course can be seen from our balcony

All are designed to give you a unique experience whilst passing some of London’s most recognisable landmarks from the water. Whether you’ve rowed before or a complete novice, our team will train you and give you the support needed to complete one of these challenges.

These events are perfect for corporate team building, helping your team to pull together in the ultimate team sport whilst getting fit and having fun. By participating in an Oarsome event, you will be making a meaningful contribution to a great cause, showcase your commitment to corporate social responsibility and also enjoy breathtaking views of London from the water.
